One guiding philosophy behind Webcrossing Core development has been the tight integration of all major TCP/IP protocols. In less technical jargon, we feel it is vitally important to allow people to fully participate and collaborate using the tools they are most comfortable with, including the web, email lists and news clients. Webcrossing Core integrates all these services.
Webcrossing Core includes its own, industrial strength email server so no other email server software is required for sending and receiving email or for providing POP3, IMAP or WebMail email access. Each user has their own personal mailbox. In addition, any folder can mirror an external email list, providing a searchable archive and means of participating via the web, or serve as its own two-way email list.
Webcrossing Core also includes a full NNTP news server. Each folder can act as its own newsgroup, mirroring Internet newsgroups or become its own private newsgroup, allowing members to participate via their preferred news client application and catching up with messages even while offline.
All this, together with Webcrossing Core's built-in full-features web server means that your members can participate in all the discussion forums using whatever access method they find most convenient, as shown in the following diagram.
